Man forgets ammo in carry-on bag -- turns himself in

It is becoming obvious that the TSA isn't asking for new technology because of smart terrorists -- they need all these new machines because they are incapable of doing their job.

A passenger boarded a plane at Milwaukee General Mitchell airport, but realized he had left some shotgun shells in his bag. Being a good citizen, he reported this to the flight attendant, who informed the pilot.

The plane then returned to the gate so the passenger could turn the ammo into the local police. The man was re-screened, and allowed back on the plane.

After the failed terror attempt on Christmas day, one would expect TSA agents to be extra vigilant. The agency has been asking for more money to invest in full body scanners, and other detection equipment. But at the end of the day, even the most impressive piece of equipment in the world becomes another useless gadget when staffed by idiots.

What a effing idiot.

If this was Britain the man would have been arrested and the Terminal shut down.

Yep, and this is just weeks after they're on high alert because of the "underwear" bomber. If they can't catch what basicly ammounts to an uncamoflauged explosive when someone isn't even trying to sneak it on the plane, what in the hell can they catch?

The brainless TSA :mad_m: scanners wouldn't know a shot shell from shinola.

Remember they have no familiarity with scary guns. :111:

I would have sat in my seat and chuckled to myself, and never have said a word.

What a doofus!

I'm also amazed that he didn't receive "extra special handling" from our TSA friends, followed by arrest/printing/booking, followed by the local news-leeches yammering on about how a tragedy was averted due to the alert elite security forces at the airport.

Idiot.

When we lived in the US, even after 911 my wife traveled through airports all the time with a decent sized Swiss Army knife attached to her keys (for opening beer bottles and cutting apples) she still has it - they never once spotted it or tried to confiscate it.

Idiot.

They couldn't rough him up after realizing they let some dude get to a plane with shotgun shells. Any mistreatment of that guy would have had serious consequences. Better to pat him down and let him back on quietly. We don't want the world to know we made such a rookie mistake.

Hell, they were probably dumping out someone else's shampoo when his bag went through the scanner.

Make the old ladies lift their arthritic arms over their heads to prove that we are being fair and not discriminating.

Doofus??? You must be joking. The man obviously is a genius, albeit absentminded, but a genius nevertheless. If he had just gone on quietly, it would have been a non event. But this man took the risk of who knows what with the TSA and revealed himself, and pulled off a media coup further illustrating the ineptitude of the TSA. He accomplished quite a bit in that feat. I would not want to be a TSA screener right now.

They could have used it as an excuse to implement more "security".

For those of you considering a job with the TSA the shinola is pictured at the bottom.

Your keychain is the best place to hide a blade.

The guy was probably carrying "stealth super ninja tactical supreme" x-ray transparent loads. Obviously.

How else could he have gotten the ammo through the ever-vigilant screeners?:sarc:

Insane, and to think that they single me out because of my shoe size(16). Any one hear about the poor Irish guy who had C4 planted in his bag by, I think it was Romania or somewhere and then they turned him in as a terrorist after he had gotten to Dublin?
